Mud Loggers Midland, Texas
Primary Role Focus
The successful candidate will be a highly self-motivated and result oriented individual with proven experience in Mud Logging in the Permian and Delaware basins located in West Texas and Eastern New Mexico. We are looking for candidates with five years experience and would prefer local residents. Continental Laboratories, Inc. is a privately held business that was established in 1954 and has built a reputation for providing unparalleled customer service, cutting-edge technology and easy to use real-time drilling information.
Key Tasks and Responsibilities
- Perform the collection of cutting samples at specific depths or intervals
- Analyze samples and provide full lithology description, including fluorescence
- Wash, screen, dry and label samples for shipment to clientele
- Maintain strict quality control procedures
- Daily calibrations of instruments and sensors
- Routine maintenance of sensors and equipment
- Maintain a clean and orderly environment
- Rig up/down mud logging unit and equipment as needed
- Communicate professionally with clientele and office personnel
Experience and Skills
- Five years experience mud logging in the Permian or Delaware basin
- Thorough understanding of well bore geometry, and calculating lag
- Ability to read schematics, and troubleshoot equipment
- Knowledge of industry standards and technology
- Competent computers skills (Windows, Excel, Outlook and Word)
- Excellent verbal and written communications skills
- Excellent math skills
Minimum Knowledge
- Bachelor’s Degree in Geology or equivalent mud logging experience. Military experience a plus

Physical and Safety Requirements
- Available to work twelve hour shifts, seven days a week
- Available on a twenty four hour basis, when required
- Required to attend classes for PEC and H2S certifications
- Possess a valid driver’s license and a clean DMV record
- Must have US work authorization
- Required to lift a minimum of 50 lbs
- Subject to pre-employment background check and physical
- Subject to pre-employment, post incident, random and reasonable cause drug and alcohol testing
- Must comply with all safety rules established by Continental Laboratories and its clientele
