Primary Role Focus
The successful candidate will be a highly self-motivated and result oriented individual with proven experience in Mud Logging in the Permian and Delaware basins located in West Texas and Eastern New Mexico. We are looking for candidates with five years experience and would prefer local residents. Continental Laboratories, Inc. is a privately held business that was established in 1954 and has built a reputation for providing unparalleled customer service, cutting-edge technology and easy to use real-time drilling information.
Key Tasks and Responsibilities
- Perform the collection of cutting samples at specific depths or intervals
- Analyze samples and provide full lithology description, including fluorescence
- Wash, screen, dry and label samples for shipment to clientele
- Maintain strict quality control procedures
- Daily calibrations of instruments and sensors
- Routine maintenance of sensors and equipment
- Maintain a clean and orderly environment
- Rig up/down mud logging unit and equipment as needed
- Communicate professionally with clientele and office personnel
Experience and Skills
- Five years experience mud logging in the Permian or Delaware basin
- Thorough understanding of well bore geometry, and calculating lag
- Ability to read schematics, and troubleshoot equipment
- Knowledge of industry standards and technology
- Competent computers skills (Windows, Excel, Outlook and Word)
- Excellent verbal and written communications skills
- Excellent math skills
Minimum Knowledge
- Bachelor’s Degree in Geology or equivalent mud logging experience. Military experience a plus

Physical and Safety Requirements

- Required to lift a minimum of 50 lbs

The ideal sales professional will have technical capability to understand customer’s needs and to recommend products and technologies to our customers on remote job sites in the Gulf Coast / Permian region. We are looking for a candidate with demonstrated ability to grow sales, identify new markets, help define product development needs and develop relationships with all key stakeholders, geologists, engineers and consultants. This candidate should possess skills to identify business opportunities, present the client with solutions to their problems and close a sale. We are looking for a result oriented sales professional with demonstrated integrity, customer focus and ability to embrace change in a fast pace environment. Key Tasks and Responsibilities
- Develop sales strategy and tactics for key accounts
- Cultivates key business relationships within assigned region to call on assigned and prospective customers and solicit orders
- Promote brand and culture at events, conferences and industry gatherings through attendance and presentation opportunities
- Maintains good rapport and informs of value added services
- Acts as a liaison to resolve concerns with customers and maintain a desired level of service
- Investigates current and forecasted requirements and introduces products and services available
- Ensures that assigned objectives and training are achieved by performing product presentations to new and existing customers
- Conducts post-mortems with client and internally to ensure quality of service
- Compares pricing and market conditions to determine reasons for receiving or losing a bid
Experience and Skills
- Minimum of five years of experience in the oil and gas industry with proven sales record selling services to geologists. This experience must include the Gulf Coast / Permian region (Texas, Louisiana, Oklahoma, New Mexico and Mississippi)
- Field operations experience is an absolute must
- Contract negotiation experience
- Mud Logging experience is required
- Knowledge of industry standards and technology is required
- Client evaluation in region
Minimum Knowledge
- Bachelor’s Degree in Geology or equivalent business experience
- Approximately 30% domestic travel
